Of the Earth, Sea, and Air for Soprano Saxophone and Piano (2020)

$39.00

Program Notes:

In the Ancient Celtic Culture, some of the most powerful and important entities existed in threes. Popular examples of this can be found in the Triskel, triple goddess, and many other ideas. The idea that inspired the creation of this piece was the marriage of the Earth, the Sea, and the Air. These elements share a three-fold marriage as witness to everything that happens among us. As we spend time experiencing the earth, enjoying the sea, and feeling the air around us, the Celtic mythology had the interpretation that these elements in turn were witness to the human experiences that we have gone through for centuries. This portrayal of the elements as continuously linked and connected brings forth a beauty in the nature that we experienced around us, that ancient civilizations experienced before us, and it begs the question of what we will leave behind for those after us.

Movements:

I. The Earth

II. The Sea

III. The Air

Approx Time: 10 minutes
